Build Financial Models That Actually Work

Learning to model isn't about memorizing formulas. It's about understanding how businesses actually function and translating that into spreadsheets that make sense. We teach analysts to think through problems rather than just follow templates.

Start With Cash Flow

Most courses begin with balance sheets. We don't. Cash is what keeps businesses alive, and if you can track where money actually moves, everything else falls into place. You'll spend your first month just on cash flow statements because that foundation matters more than anything else.

Real Company Data

Every exercise uses actual annual reports from Australian companies. You'll work with messy data that doesn't fit templates perfectly, which is exactly what you'll face in your job.

Scenario Planning Skills

A model that only shows one outcome isn't particularly useful. We teach you to build flexible frameworks where you can test different assumptions quickly. What if revenue drops 15%? What if suppliers increase prices? Your models need to answer these questions without rebuilding everything from scratch.

How We Structure Learning

The program runs for eight months starting September 2025. Each month focuses on a specific modeling skill, building on what came before. By month three, you're combining multiple techniques. By month six, you're modeling entire business units.

We don't lecture much. Most sessions involve working through problems together, discussing why certain approaches work better than others, and reviewing each other's models. You'll spot mistakes in other people's work before you catch them in your own, which is a surprisingly effective way to learn.

Who This Helps

This works best for people already working in finance who want to get better at modeling. Maybe you're in FP&A and feel like your forecasts could be more robust. Or you're in corporate development and need to evaluate acquisition targets more thoroughly.

We also get accountants who want to move into more analytical roles, and junior investment analysts who realize their university courses didn't actually prepare them for building real models. If you're comfortable with Excel basics and understand financial statements at least conceptually, you'll be fine.

Applications Open for September 2025

We take 24 participants per cohort. The next program starts September 15th and runs through May 2026. Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with optional weekend workshops once a month. You'll need about 8-10 hours per week for coursework and practice.
